POMQuiz is for medical-education use only. It is not a substitute for clinical judgment, professional medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment.
When you sign in (with Google or with Sign in with Apple), we receive basic profile information from the sign-in provider: your name and email address. With Google we also receive your profile photo. That is all we receive at sign-in.
As you use the site, we store your quiz answers, scores, time spent, preferences (like your theme and quiz settings), and any feedback messages you submit.
Your data is not sold or shared with third parties.
Your data is used to show you your progress, track which questions you have answered, let you pick up quizzes where you left off, and let you review past attempts and your answer history for each one. Your progress is also tracked per week and per learning outcome so you can see how you are doing relative to the curriculum and identify areas of strength or improvement. Your preferences and settings are saved so the site works the way you want it to every time you come back.
Only the POMQuiz team has access to the admin dashboard, which shows user accounts and quiz activity. This access is necessary to approve new users, troubleshoot bugs (like stuck quiz progress or incorrect questions), and keep the site running smoothly.
Your individual quiz answers are not visible to anyone outside the POMQuiz team. The one exception is Duels (opt-in): during a duel, your opponent sees the answer you selected and whether it was correct. In all duel-related surfaces, you appear by the handle you choose when opting in, a pseudonym you pick, not your name or email. You can opt out at any time from your profile.
Some features are powered by large-language-model (LLM) providers (specifically OpenAI, Anthropic, and Google Gemini) accessed through Vercel's AI Gateway. These features include the AI Coach, the Schedule planner, and AI-generated quizzes.
When you use an AI feature, the messages you send and a small slice of your own quiz data (the scores, learning outcomes, and answers the tool query returns) are sent to the LLM provider so it can respond in context. The provider never sees your name or email. Our AI tools identify you only by an opaque internal user ID, a random string used to look up your own records on our database. No real-world identity is sent off-platform.
All requests to LLM providers run through Vercel AI Gateway under a zero-data-retention policy: the providers do not log, store, or train on the data you send. The conversation history itself is kept on our database so you can resume threads later, and you can delete it at any time from inside the app.
The POMQuiz iOS app uses the same backend as the website. In addition to what is listed above, the app stores a push notification token (issued by Apple), the app version, and the device platform ("ios"). These are tied to your account so notifications about duel turns, quiz-ready events, and announcements from the POMQuiz team can be delivered to your device.
You can disable notifications at any time in iOS Settings → Notifications → POMQuiz. Tokens for uninstalled apps are pruned automatically when Apple reports them as invalid.
Calendar access (optional). If you grant calendar access for the Study Plan feature, the app reads your upcoming events to find study slots. You can revoke access at any time in iOS Settings → POMQuiz → Calendars.
What is read from your iOS calendar:
- Start time, end time, and the all-day flag for events in the next 90 days.
- The name of each calendar (e.g. "Personal", "Work", "Holidays"), used only on-device to decide which calendars to include. The Holidays calendar, Birthdays calendar, and any subscribed read-only calendar feeds are skipped automatically.
What is NOT read, sent off-device, or stored:
- Event titles, descriptions, notes.
- Locations, URLs, attachments.
- Attendees, organizers, invitee email addresses.
- Recurrence rules, alarms, calendar account credentials.
What lands on our servers is a list of busy windows in the shape { start, end, allDay }, attached to your active study plan so the AI planner can re-read it across chat turns. We do not retain calendar data outside of your active plan, and deleting the plan removes the windows along with it.
The site and its database are hosted in the United States. Your data is transmitted securely over HTTPS and stored in a password-protected database.
We use a small number of cookies, all for functionality. No advertising cookies, no cross-site tracking.
- A session cookie that keeps you signed in (set when you authenticate, cleared when you sign out).
- A theme cookie that remembers whether you picked light or dark mode.
- A cohort context cookie for administrators, remembering which cohort view they have selected.
We use Vercel Analytics, a privacy-preserving page-view counter that records the path of the page you visit (for example, /quizzes). It is cookieless, collects no personal information, and does not track you across other sites. The same counter runs inside the iOS app when it displays POMQuiz pages.
You can delete your account at any time from the Delete account section at the bottom of your profile page. There is no email or web form to fill out; the button deletes your account directly and immediately.
Deletion is permanent and your account cannot be restored. The following is erased right away:
- Your name, and any name you submitted with the waitlist form.
- Your email address.
- Your Apple or Google sign-in link, and all active sessions on every device.
- Your cohort assignment and approval status.
Because your email is erased, signing in again later with the same Apple ID or Google account starts a brand new account. Your previous account and identity are gone for good.
What we keep, with every personal identifier (your name, email, and sign-in) removed, attached only to an internal account number that cannot be traced back to you:
- Your quiz attempts and results, and any duels you played.
- Your AI Coach conversations.
We retain this usage data to improve the product for current and future students: to find and fix weak or ambiguous questions, to measure how thoroughly the curriculum is covered, and to evaluate and improve the quality of the AI Coach’s answers. Once your name and email are erased, these records are no longer personally identifiable. If you would prefer them deleted entirely as well, email support@pomquiz.com and we will remove them.
You can also delete individual quiz results from your profile at any time without deleting your account.
If anything about how the site handles your data changes in a meaningful way, it will be communicated through the Updates page.
